Kalka Devi Mandir is a holy shrine of Hindus. It is worshipped and visited in the honour of Hindu Goddess Kali who is the manifestation of goddess Durga. The temple has gained its solid structure in 1764 A.D. It is sited in the locality of Kalkaji which is in the southern part of Delhi. The most esteemed and ancient temple of India is Kalka Devi Mandir. It’s another names are JAYANTI PEETH or MANOKAMNA SIDDHA PEETHA. MANOKAMNA stands for wish, SIDDHA stands for achievement and PEETHA means sanctum. It is considered as a holy place where all wishes of the devotees are fulfilled by Mata. This is very renowned sanctum of India. The looks of the temple is very up-to-date and fashionable. Crores of people flocked towards this temple every year.

Getting There

One can reach Delhi by mean of four modes: bus, self-drive, rail and air. For carrying out the journey to Delhi pilgrim can adopt the mode of self-drive. The journey through bus can be carried out by Interstate Bus Terminals and Bikaner House bus station (A.C buses) which connect Delhi to many cities. The journey through rail can be carried out by New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station, Nizamuddin Railway Station, Anand Vihar Railway Terminal and Sarai Rohilla. The journey through air can be carried out by Indira Gandhi International airport. After reaching Delhi devotees can approach the shrine by local Buses, metro, auto rickshaws or by hiring taxis.

Security And some Tips

There are many security measures which are adopted in order to ensure security in the temple. CCTV cameras are installed to visualize each and every activity of devotees. Cameras are not allowed in the prayer hall for the purpose of security. Devotees should not carry cash and ornaments with them. They should keep their luggage at safe and secure place.

When To Visit

The best time to visit this temple is during the morning and evening aarti. It is opened all the days of the week. The timings of this shrine are 6.00 am to 10.00 pm. There is no entry fee to visit this temple.

What To See And Do

Kalka Devi Mandir possesses the 8 sided configuration. Its structure is erected by marble and black pumicle stones and this black stone signifies Mata Kali. Hymns and mantras are chanted throughout the trip. The purchasing of prasad and offering takes place before entering into the temple.The floors of the temple possess the design of black and white squares. It consists of 8.9’ metre wide verandah. The worship and ceremonies are performed by priest on regular turn which is on the basis of months. The environment of the sanctum is casual and cheerfulwith light which is continued throughout the whole night. The meditation is also performed by the pilgrims. Every evening is lightened up by tantric aarti. The idol of Mata is made up of black stone placed in the centre of the doorway lying in the east direction. Both the sides of the deity are covered by 2 tigers. The idol use to get the bath of milk in the morning followed by evening aarti. Laddus and pedas are distributed as parshad.

There are so many dharamshalas and inns around this temple where yatri can have stay. The courtyard of the principal shrine entails a dharamshala called Kali dharamshala. These dharamshalas provide shelter at reasonable price.

Travel Tips

Yatri should take a personal diary to keep the record of the whole journey along with the feelings at that moment as camera is not allowed to be taken into the temple premises. Yatri should also hire a tourist guide in order to have the complete knowledge of the trip including history. They also should take first aid for curing frequent injury.
