Ram Raja Temple finds its residence at Orchha which lies in the state of Madhya Pradesh (India). It is aholy place of Hindus. It is worshipped and visited in the honour of Lord Ram. A large number of devotees visit this temple in which the number of inland tourists in a year is 650,000 and foreign tourists are 25,000. The assortment of pilgrims visiting the temple in a whole day is 1500 to 3000. The left side of the main idol is occupied by Goddess Sita (wife); right side is occupied by Laxman (brother), Narsingh Bhagwan, Maharaj Sugreev and Durga Mata. The deity of Jamwant ji and Hanuman ji is placed below the Sita in a praying position. It is a unique temple of Orcha. Here Lord Rama is deified as king.

Getting There

One can reach Orcha by mean of three modes: road, rail and air. There is good bus network which connects Orcha to many other cities. The closest railway station is Jhansi by which so many trains are connected. The nearby airport is Khajuraho by which various airlines are connected. After reaching Orcha one can hire bus or taxi to reach the shrine.

Security And Some Tips

There are many security services at Orcha which are provided to people for safety and protection. These security services are Leader Star Security Limited, Attivo Protezione Pvt Ltd, Home Guard Office, Baiswara Security Agency, Skywave Security Services Pvt Ltd and Gautam Security and Man Power Services etc. There is a security guard standing daily for temple’s security. Yatris should not carry cash and ornaments with them. They should keep their luggage at safe and secure place.

When To Visit

The best time to visit the shrine is during the sunrise and during the month from January to March and October to December. The timings of its opening during the month from March to September are 8:00 AM, 12:00 AM, 12:30 PM, 8:00 PM, 10 PM and 10:30 PM and during the month from November to January are: 9:00 AM, 12:30 PM, 1:00 PM, 7:00 PM, 9:30 PM and 11:30 PM. The duration of visiting the temple is below 1 hour. There is no entry fee to visit the shrine.

What To See And Do

The base at which Ram Raja Temple is erected is square in shape. The exterior of the temple is simple and natural. It is covered by subtle line of domes. The outer portion is colourful and reveals the remarkable art of ancient India. The walls of the temple are decorated beautifully. There is a big ground outside the temple. After entering the shrine there is a deity of Lord Ram which is bearing sword in right hand and shield in left hand. The deity follows the sitting posture, crossing one leg over another. Food and other services are offered to the idol and that food is distributed as Prasad.

There are two dharamshalas at Orcha where yatris can have their stay at reasonable price. These dharamshalas are: Raja Ram Dharamshala and The Sanctuary, dharamshala etc.

There are many hotels at Orcha where Yatris can have their stay and these hotels provide luxury to travellers. These hotels are: Hotel Raj Mahal, Amar Mahal, Orchha Home-stay, Hotel Fort View Orchha, Bundelkhand Riverside and Hardik Resort etc.

Festivals

There are many festivals which are celebrated in the Ram Raja Temple with pomp and vigor. These festivals are: Lord Ram's Wedding, Rath Yatra, Ganga Dussehra, Rahesya Pooranmashi, Sawan Teej, Rahesya Pooranmashi, Vivha Panchami, Ganesh Kunwari Jayanti and Holika Festival etc.

 

 

Side Trips

There are many places to visit around Ram Raja Temple. These places are: Jarai Mata Temple Complex, Vandana Dubey Cooking Class, Anand Mahal Garden, Dinman Hardaul's Palace, Ramayan Kala Sangrahalay and Dao Ki Kothi etc.

Travel Tips

Yatris should take video camera with them in order to trap each and every activity of the whole trip. They should also take a personal diary for having the written record of the whole trip along with the feelings and emotions at that period of time. They should also hire a tourist guide for having the complete knowledge of the shrine including its history. They should also take first aid for curing frequent injury.

Hence, the true masterpiece of Ancient India is Ram Raja Temple.
