Lakshmi Narayan Mandir or Birla Mandir

Also known by the name “Birla Mandir” of New Delhi, this fine-looking Lakshmi Narayan temple is located on the west side of Connaught Place. The Lakshmi Narayan temple has an exciting history. It was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi. This temple was built in the year 1938 by a prominent king (Birla family member) – Raja ‘Baldev Das’. The Birla Mandir was built using ‘Nagara architecture’ and dedicated to the powerful goddess Lakshmi and god Vishnu. This temple is festooned with red sandstones and white marbles. The best time to visit the Birla temple is during the “Krishna Janmashtami”. During Krishna Jeyanthi, popular shows are organized at the temple.

The Akshardham Temple

This temple is built newly in Delhi. The Akshardham temple was built by the “Bochasanvasi Aksharpurushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha ( or BAPS)”. This beautiful temple is positioned on the banks of the Yamuna river. It took approximately 2 years to complete the construction of this graceful temple. The inaugural ceremony of this gracious Akshardham temple was conducted on November 2005 in front of the “President of India – Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam”. The Akshardham temple has a vast land area of about a hundred acres.

Gauri Shankar Temple

The legendary Gauri Shankar Temple is basically a Hindu temple that is located in the Old Delhi. This temple is dedicated to the powerful God Lord Shiva. The Gauri Shankar temple has an archaic “Tanned Lingam” that is more or less eight hundred years old. This Lingam is made up of a special stone called, Phallus stone. This Shiva Lingam is surrounded by snakes and stands for a “Celestial pillar” – the Core of the cosmos “.

The Chattarpur Mandir

The famous Chattarpur Mandir can be found at a distance of more or less 4 kms from the ‘well-known’ Qutab Minar situated in the ‘Mehrauli area’ of Delhi. The Chatarpur temple of Delhi is a gorgeous monument. In point of fact, this temple is constructed by utilizing both the North Indian and the South Indian style of structural design. The Chattarput Mandir is built by using ‘Immaculate white marble’ and has a vast landscape with astonishingly planned garden with finely trimmed lawns.

Iskon Temple

Amazing multimedia shows are conducted in this temple to help the devotees and visitors understand the value of the two Indian epics- the Mahabharata and the Ramayana.

Hanuman Mandir

Hanuman Mandir is found on the Baba Kharak Singh road located in close proximity to Connaught Place. This temple is considered to be one of the pre-historic Hanuman temples in India. This temple was built in the year 1724 originally by ‘Maharaja Jai Singh’. On the other hand, the Lord Hanuman Mandir has undergone many renovations so far.

Kalkaji Temple

The Kalkaji Temple is located away from the business complex of the Nehru place in Delhi. This beautiful 12-sided, vaulted temple is dedicated to Goddess ‘Kalka Devi’. The ancient part of the KalkaJi Mandir situated in New Delhi dates back to the year 1763-1770 and was built when ‘Marathas’ ruled the country. Nevertheless, some restorations and embellishments were also made in the mid of the nineteenth century.

Kali Bari Mandir

The Kali Bari Mandir is dedicated to the powerful Indian Goddess Kali. Even though it is a small temple, it is very famous for its architecture. The Kali Bari temple embraces unique importance for the Bengalis in New Delhi especially, during the time of Durga Pooja celebrations that is conducted in the month of October. During Durga Pooja, the Kali Bari Mandir turns into the major hub for celebrations and is crammed with devotees from all over the city.

Sri Digambar Jain Lal Mandir

This temple is situated in front of the Red Fort, Delhi. This temple dates back to the Mughal ruler, Aurangzeb and is considered to be the primitive temples of Delhi. This temple was built in 1658 AD by Shri Digambar Jain Lal.

Sheetla Devi Temple

The Sheetla Devi temple is located in the Gurgaon village, a neighborhood area of Gurgaon. The temple is built in such a way that it stands near a beautiful dew pond. It is devoted to Goddess “Sri Sheetla Devi”. For the most part, the Sheetala Mata Mandir in Delhi is also believed as the “Shakti Peet”. This temple is well thought-out to be the most sacred and blessed Hindu temples in India.
