Jaipur Junction( Jaipur Railway Station)

Jaipur Junction of Jaipur Railway Station is the largest of all the railway stations in Jaipur. Jaipur serves as the headquarters of the North Western Railway zone of the Indian Railways since 2002. The headquarters of North Western Jaipur are also located in Jaipur. Jaipur Junction is located close to the inter-state bus stand Sindhi camp. Jaipur Junction is linked by meter gauge and broad gauge lines to other parts of the country. This junction deals with 22 meter gauge lines and 88 broad gauge lines and 35,000 passengers in a day. There are seven platforms on Jaipur Junction. It has direct trains on the broad gauge network to all major cities to Rajasthan. It also has direct trains to other major cities of India as Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Indore, Kota, Hyderabad, Gandhinagar, Ahmadabad, Bangalore, Varanasi, Chandigarh, Nagpur, etc. and also meter gauge lines to Churu, Sikar and Sri Ganganagar. The Palace on Wheels is one of the India’s famous and luxurious trains and it also has a scheduled stop at Jaipur. The main lines passing through Jaipur are:

  • Jaipur to Sikar meter gauge

  • Delhi to Ahmadabad line via Ajmer. It is a Broad gauge line of diesel.

  • Sawai Madhopur to Jaipur. It is a single broad gauge diesel line.

Jaipur Junction Railway station is a major rail head in all over Rajasthan. The Jaipur Junction is under the administrative control of North Western railways. To the national capital Delhi, daily train services are available. Palace of Wheels on running through the Golden triangle (Delhi Agra Jaipur) also stops at Jaipur Junction. There are separate counters for the enquiry of the foreign tourists.

Palace of Wheels, the luxury train running on Golden Triangle tourist circuit (Delhi Agra Jaipur) passes through the station. Tourist information centre and a separate reservation counter for foreign tourists are set at the railway station. Inter-state bus terminal is located on the station road. In close vicinity of the station hotels are available, offering comfortable stay to guests. 

Facilities like waiting room, retiring room, tourist information center, tea stall, book stall, telephone booth, refreshment room and computerized reservation office are also there. From the Jaipur Junction Railway Station, airport is 13 kms away. Many tourist destinations are also in nearby areas such as Hawa Mahal is 2 kms away, Jantar Mantar is 4 kms, City Palace is 5 kms, and Amber fort is 13 kms away from the Jaipur Junction. Cities like Ajmer, Alwar, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Agra and Delhi are also well equipped with broad gauge railway lines. Rajasthan Tourist Development Corporation also runs an information bureau and a separate reservation counter for the foreign tourists. Counter number is 769.
