Whenever we talk about the Agra city the first thing which comes into mind is the Taj Mahal and why not… because the Taj Mahal has that beauty which cannot be expressed in words and it comes under Seven Wonders of the World. Taj Mahal is not only a symbol of eternal love but also it is a perfect example of the finest architecture in the world. The Taj Mahal is a white sandstone (Marble) monument, which was built by Shah Jahan (Mughal Emperor) in the memory of his  beautiful wife Arjumand Bano Begum (Mumtaz Mahal),who died in 1630 AD and her last words to her husband were to build a mausoleum in her memory which nobody had ever seen in this world and Shah Jahan built a priceless monument(Taj Mahal) in memory of  his wife and to show the world that there can be heaven on earth. There is a grave of Queen Mumtaz Mahal in the lower chamber of the Taj Mahal and the grave of Shah Jahan was also added to it later.

If you are planning to come to Agra and see the Taj Mahal than I would like to tell you those things which would really help you. The Taj Mahal remains closed on Fridays. There are three gates to enter in the Taj Mahal named as south, east and west; you must choose the eastern gate because you will find the less crowded than the others. You will find locker facility available at each gate. The best time to visit the Taj is at night. Night viewing is allowed only for 5 days in a month which is two days before the full moon night and two days after it, and for this you have to book your tickets in one day advance. At night when you are standing in front of The Taj Mahal believe me it is fabulous experience when a magnificent monument is standing in front of you and you actually feel like heaven. It is totally a different experience. After that you can realize that why it has been chosen in the seven wonders.

The other beauty of Agra city is Taj Mahotsav. It is a carnival of 10 days which celebrated every year in the month of Feb, and in this carnival you get to know about the beautiful art, crafts and the different cultures of India. You can find varieties of the best cuisine and from the entertainment point of view you can see the traditional dance and flawless music which takes you to a different world. This is one of the biggest carnivals in the world. Except this, there are other fabulous tourist places in Agra like Red fort which was built by Mughal ruler Akbar. Initially it was built for military purpose but later on the Shah Jahan converted into a beautiful palace that’s why it is also known as a sister monument of  the Taj Mahal.

Agra is also famous for its leather works. Its leather is exported to various countries like Australia, Spain, Belgium, Japan, France, Germany, USA etc. If you want to purchase some really good stuff of leather then you must visit the Sadar Market and Nehru Market and you will get the finest leather product at an economical price.
