Workshop organized by UNICEF on Media's Role in COVID Vaccination
Bharatpur, 29 Aug: In the workshop organized in Bharatpur on the ‘Role of Media in COVID Vaccination, it was told that there are misconceptions about vaccination in a particular community and that Bharatpur media has a special role in removing these myths. Till yesterday, 11 crores 28 lakhs citizens in Rajasthan have been vaccinated. In the Bharatpur division, the total rate of vaccination is just 64 per cent; for this, more awareness efforts are needed.
The workshop was organized under the joint aegis of Rajasthan UNICEF, Jaipur-based media advocacy organization Lok Samvad Sansthan, Press Information Bureau and chapter of Public Relations Society of India, Jaipur. It emerged in the workshop that the role of vaccination in the prevention of infectious diseases is extremely important. The participation of the media is crucial in the campaign to take this program forward with the masses. UNICEF Health Advisor Kamlesh Bans gave a detailed presentation in which he said that the coverage of COVID-19 vaccination in India had crossed the 200 crore mark, which is a record in itself, whereas about 20 per cent of the population in Rajasthan has still not taken the shot, to achieve 100 per cent is a huge challenge for all the organizations associated with the vaccination campaign. Bansal also said that special attention must be given to the backward districts like Bharatpur, Alwar and Sawai Madhopur in the vaccination campaign. Ankush Singh, Communication Specialist, Rajasthan UNICEF, called upon the media persons to expose the misconceptions and superstitions that pose a challenge to the vaccination campaign so that the general public feels encouraged to take the doses.
RCHO Dr Amar Singh Saini, Information and Public Relations Officer Dr Manish Jain, President of Public Relations Society of India Jaipur Chapter Ravi Shankar Sharma, senior journalists Vinod Bhardwaj and Jaidev from Jaipur, Kalyan Singh Kothari, Secretary of Lok Samvad Sansthan also expressed their views in the workshop.
