Ice Skating is the popular activity in Korea so it is available on rinks all over the outskirts of Seoul in the winter as well as in at some locations inside the city. The rink is quite crowded particularly during the Korean school winter breaks. Lessons are offered in many of the rinks. In Korea Figure skating instructor can also be easily found as well. You can purchase the ice-skates at a reasonable prices in many locations including Dongdaemun market. They are also available on rent in some rinks.

There are two rinks available in korea. One of them is indoor rink and the other one is outdoor rink. The indoor rink are open all year long and outdoor rinks are frozen in the cold weather months. You have your choices, prices and service.

INDOOR YEAR-ROUND RINKS:

Dong Cheon Ice Rink: Dong Cheon Sports Nowon-gu is near Junggve Stn. (line 7, ex.3). the timings are 10 Am – 5:30 Pm. The entrance fee is worth W4,000 – W5,000. The skate rental is W3,000.

Korea University Ice Rink: It is an indoor rink open to the public all year-round. To get there, take Line 6 to Korea University Station and go out Exit #3, then take bus #20 and get off at the Korea University bus stop. The timings are as follows: 2-6PM Monday – Sunday and during school break periods  (mid-July – end of August / mid-December – end February) 1 Pm – 6 Pm. The entrance fee is  as per: W5,000- W6000 adults/W4,000 children. The skate rental is W3,000.

Kwang Woon University Ice Rink: Kwang Woon University in Nowon-gu, near Seongbuk Stn. (line 1, ex. 2). The timings for the Weekdays is 2 pm – 5 pm and Weekends 12 pm – 5 pm. The entrance fee is W4,000 – W4,500. The skate rental is W2,500 – W3,000.

Lotte World Indoor Ice Skating Rink: This is the indoor ice rink at Lotte World theme park. It has a giant-fully enclosed hockey sized ice skating rink that is opened all year round on floor B3 of the Lotte World Shopping Complex Songpa-gu near ( Jasmil Station Lines @ and 8, exit 4). The moving lights create a romantic atmosphere at night.  The timings are as follows: Weekdays is 11 am – 10:30 pm and Weekends is 10 am – 10:30 pm. The entrance for 3 hours skating ranges from around W5,000 for children to about W10,000 for adults – additional time is around W1,000/30 minutes. The skates rental for around is W5,000.

Bundang Olympic Sports Center: It has an indoor rink that offers a wide range of skating options including, speed skating, figure skating and ice hockey lessons. There’s also a skate-blade repair shop on site as well as a skate rental shop. Getting There: take the Bundang subway line to Seohyeon station exit #2, then take the escalator to the second floor of the Samsung Plaza building and walk about 10 minutes or take a taxi for about 5 minutes. Buses 2, 2-1, 16-1, 17-1, 6, 200, 909, 910 stop nearby. Free parking is available on the parking lot. The timings are as follows: Weekdays 10 Am – 6 Pm and in Weekends 9 Am to 4 Pm. The entrance fee is Adults: W5,500, Students: W5,000 and Children(must be over 5yr o above): W4,500. The Rental of Skates is W3,000 and helmets is W1,000.

Mokdong Ice Rink: This the biggest indoor skating rink in Korea. It is near Omokgyo Stn. (line 5). Mon – Sat: 2 – 6 pm.  The timings are: Sun & holidays 12 pm – 6 pm and in Vacation: 10 am – 6 pm. The Entrance fee is W3,000 – W4,000. The Skate rental is W3,000 for the first 2 hours. W1,000 for every additional hour/30mins.

Taereung International Skating Rink: The Taerung Training Center’s ice rink is famous as the former practice spot of Kim Yuna, the nation’s figure skating hero. Taereung Training Center, San 223-19, Gongreung-dong, Nowon-gu. The timings is 10 am – 7 pm. Entrance fee W3,000 – W4,000. Skate rental W3,000.

Tancheon Sports Complex: Tancheon sports complex in Seongnam Gyeonggi-do has an indoor ice rink that offers a full-range of activities from speed skating to figure skating to ice hockey. It is located on the other side of Tancheon from Yatap Station in Bundang. The timings are: Weekdays: 9 Am – 5:30 Pm and Weekends: 10 Am – 4:50 Pm. The entrance fee is as per: Adults: W3,000, Students:W2,500 and Children: W2,000. The Rental of skates and helmets are from W500 to W3,000. .
