Jaipur Literature Festival

One of the most prominent annual events in the city is the Jaipur annual Literature Festival. Held at the Diggi Palace Hotel, the literary festival is one of the largest in all of India, drawing authors, readers and cultural critics to the city every January.

The festival itself is held in the gardens of the Palace, as well as events in the Hall of Audience, serving as a celebration of Indian culture and writing. Famous attendees include authors such as Salmon Rushdie, Suketu Mehtu and Sarnath Banerjee. The event draws famous and aspiring writers from January 21st to 25th, including a number of emerging writers to launch their careers at the festival.

In recent years, renowned Indian musical acts such as Karsh Kale and Suheela Raman have also performed, highlighting the diversity of the event across the entire arts community. Organized by the Jaipur Virasat Foundation, the Festival emerged from the Heritage International Festival and rose to prominence. Each year, the festival continues to grow in prominence, drawing international authors and readers to experience the depth of local Jaipur arts culture.
