Refinery Work Will Complete on Stated Time: CM

Jaipur, November 4. Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot has said that timely completion of the construction work of petroleum refinery is the top priority of state government. Delay would not be allowed in this. He said that the refinery work was undergoing on war-footing and it would complete within the stated timeframe.

Shri Gehlot was on spot inspection of the ongoing construction works of the refinery, a joint venture of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and the Rajasthan government at Pachpadara in Barmer on Monday. During this, he asked the officials to give special attention to the technical quality of the construction.

The CM said that about one-fourth of the works were under-construction, and tenders floated for work worth Rs. 10,000 crore. “This is the biggest refinery projects in the country,” he said, further adding that the state would be at a new era of growth and development with the completion of this Petro-complex of nine million tonne capacity.

The Chief Minister said that the state government would establish a petrochemical hub in Barmer. It would help in setting-up hundreds of industrial units in a vast region and create thousands of employment opportunities. He said that the local people would be given priority in employment in refinery-related works. For this, he added, the youth would be given technical training through skill development campaign, enabling them to establish their career in the petrochemical sector.

Shri Gehlot said that with the completion of the refinery works, an income of the state would shoot up, and the employment opportunities would increase. The state government would now focus on oil exploration works as well. It was the need to meet the requirement of the crude oil for the refinery locally and keep the demand of exporting crude from out of Rajasthan to the minimum, he said.

Before the visit to the refinery campus, The CM discussed the details of the under-construction project with the officials using a model. Chief Secretary Shri DB Gupta shared a proposal of using solar energy and the development of a green-belt in the project area.
Chairman and Managing Director of HPCL Shri MK Surana presented the entire process of import of crude oil to the project, its refining process and then export of the ready-to-use petro-products through a model. He also shared detailed information about the products and by-products of the project. CEO of Rajasthan Refinery Shri SP Gaikwad compared the upcoming project with other refineries in the country.

On CM’s arrival at Pachpadra, Revenue Minister Shri Harish Chaudhary, Mines and Petroleum Minister Shri Pramod Jain Bhaya, former minister Shri Amin Khan, MLAs Shri Mevaram Jain, many local public representatives, officials of the state government and HPCL welcomed him.

Shri Gehlot also heard public grievances and issued directions to the concerned officials to resolve the issues.
