Rajmandir

Rajmandir

Anyone who ever visits Jaipur must always ask to see and know about Rajmandir. Few of them might even do not know exactly whether it is really a mandir (temple) or something else. Later they realize that it is a single screen cinema hall of Jaipur and not a temple. Rajmandir is centrally located at Jaipur, near ‘Paanch Batti’ crossing, M.I. Road. It is among one of the oldest cinema hall of the Pink City and it has got very famous for its heart throbbing architecture and enchanting interiors. Entering into the cinema hall gives you a feel of an eminent lobby of a five star hotel. The huge auditorium is entirely covered by Red Carpet which gives a luxurious experience of watching the film.

It was opened on June 01, 1976 and the first film which was screened was ‘Charas’. The main cast of the film was Dharmendra and Hema Malini. The interiors of Rajmandir were designed by the architect Mr. W.M. Namjoshi. Apart from its huge area and the film being running, mostly it remains full because it has become a most popular entertainment and tourist symbol of Jaipur. Speaking of current scenario our youth today is more likely attracted to the multiplex culture and most of the time prefers to enjoy cinema like PVR or the INOX way.

Yet the glory of Rajmandir would never fade away and it would remain consistent always. Pride to be a Jaipurite.
