COVID recovered senior journalists will share their experiences on the role of media in ending stigma and discrimination during a webinar on “Reporting in the Times of COVID-19.

Reporting in the Times of COVID-19Two-hour-long online discussions with eminent media personalities and media academicians through a national webinar on, “Reporting in the Times of COVID 19 “will be organised by the UNICEF-Rajasthan with the implementing agency –Lok Samvad Sansthan, a Jaipur based advocacy organisation and with collaborative partnership Communication- Today a media quarterly magazine on October 16 (Friday).

Mr Kalyan Singh Kothari, Secretary Lok Samvad Sansthan said that the proposed webinar would guide media persons on their safety measures while covering news on the field, the role of media in ending stigma and discrimination against COVID affected people and warriors. The webinar would also inform the media about the situation of women and children during the pandemic. It would also give a boost to the mask campaign run by the government.

The online event began with opening remarks by Ms Isabelle Bardem: State Chief- UNICEF, Rajasthan would focus on the Situation of women and children in Rajasthan during the pandemic. She will discuss how to protect children and their families from exposure to COVID-19 and minimise mortality. Dr Mrinal Chatterjee Regional Director, Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Dhenkanal Odisha will speak on personal safety for reporters with a keen focus on the challenges faced by journalists as well as community media professionals senior media academician/ Mass Media educator Prof Sanjeev Bhnawat-Former Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication-University of Rajasthan and Chief Editor “Communication Today will focus on the Role of Media and Sensitized about the present situation of women and children during the pandemic and their role in highlighting them., As COVID recovered senior journalists, Ms Shweta Jha, Associated Executive Producer /Anchor at AAJTAK and Shri Manoj Mathur-Resident Editor Zee Rajasthan News will be sharing their experiences on the role of media in ending stigma and discrimination against COVID affected.
