HC’s decision on backlog

In a significant order of Rajasthan High Court  cleared that the candidates of SC-ST will have to secure minimum passing marks in compulsory subjects in the written competitive examination for government recruitment under backlog category. The bench of Chief Justice Arun Mishra and Justice NK Jain gave the order after rejecting the petition filled by Mahendra Meena and others.

According to the matter, On 9 December 2008, the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) had issued an advertisement for filling posts of accountants, junior accountants and revenue accountants in the backlog category under the Rajasthan Subordinate Accounts Service Rules, 1963 and Rajasthan taxation subordinate accounts service rules,1975. The competitive examination was conducted on 25 June 2011 and the results were declared on 19 October 2011. But the applicants failed to secure minimum passing marks (35 in this case) due to which, he was declared disqualified.
