The Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti is one of the most honored Darghas not only in the state of Rajasthan but also throughout the nation. This Dargah is placed in the city of Ajmer in Rajasthan. Traditionally referred as Ajmer Sharif (Holy Ajmer), the Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti's Dargah is visited by copious devotees annually. It is here where the mortal remnants of the esteemed Sufi saint Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chishti is buried. Both Muslims and surprisingly masses of Hindus visit this place, worship and follow the preachings of “Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisti” who is also called as Khwaja Gharib Nawaz. He is well thought-out to be the vicar of human race in the midst of the mankind. Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti was a famous Sufi saint who was the forerunner of Islam religion in India. History of Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisti:
Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti was called in different names such as, Khawaja Gharib Nawaz, “Sultan-Ul-Hind”, Khwaja Baba, Khwaja Gharib Nawaz Ajmeri, Khwaja Sahib, Khwaja Saheb, Khwaja Ajmeri Saint Moinuddin Chisti. The saint was not really fascinated about material and earthly objects. He was born in Chisiti region of East Persia around 1142 A.D. While he was in an attempt of preaching the superior way of existence to the community, he visited India and settled back in Ajmer region of Rajasthan. In Ajmer, Saint Moinuddin Chisti fascinated many clique. The group also included many mighty emperors and other aristocrats. He also accomplished the “Sufi Sulh-e-Kulh” in Ajmer which highlighted on the unity and harmony of Hindu and Muslim religions.

Amazing Architectural marvel of Ajmer Sharif:
The Dargah has several attractive tombs, buildings, Daalaans and courtyards some of which are wonderful examples of the Mughal architecture and were raised during the Mughal ear. The Dargah of Moinuddin Chisti is placed at the northern plinth of the Taragarh mount. Among the other well-known attractions which grabs the attention of the visitors instantly when they enter the Dargah, are the 2 grand Buland Darwaza that were constructed with the monetary contributions of Sultan Ghyasuddin Khilji of Mandoo who was the emperor of Malwa during the period 1469 -1500 A.D. This Ajmer Sharif also has a Dargah which dwells the crypt of Saint Moinuddin Chisti. The Chief (stately) entrance of the Dargah was constructed by “H.E.H. Nisam Usman Ali Khan” from Hyderabad, India. Also, The Ajmer Sharif boasts a “Naqqar Khana (Drum House)” which has 2 naqqars that were gifted by Mughal emperor Akbar during one of his triumph. Akbar was one of the primary Mughal emperors to visit this place in barefoot to seek blessings for his son when Ajmer came under his control. Moreover, the Dargah has several other tombs and gorgeous edifices which are the great instances of first-rate Mughal structural design.
The doorway to the Dargah is basically through the Dargah Bazaar. This leads to the internal patio. The lofty doorway has delightfully engraved silver doors. In the patio, there are 2 gigantic cauldrons with capacity of 2240 kg & 4480 kg. The tombstone of the Sufi Saint is bounded by a silver fence and is partly enclosed with a marble screen.
The daughter of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan had established a prayer room in the Dargah especially for the women followers. Also, the building of the Dargah has crypt of Bibi Hafiz Jama, the daughter of Saint, the vault of Chimni Begum, the daughter of Shah Jahan and the crypt of Bhishti. The spectacle at the aesthetic and amazing white dome crowns the major tomb. Besides Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti's Dargah there are several other monuments of historic interest located within the Dargah Sharief enclosure.

People have limitless belief on the holiness of the Dargah. Every year, Nearly 40000 people visit Ajmer Sharif to pay reverence at the sanctified Dargah. A yearly carnival known as Urs will be held for 6 days to honor the bereavement of Moinuddin Chisti which pulls hundreds of visitors to the Ajmer Dargah Sharif. Devotees bestow chadars at the mosque on the fulfillment of their desires. A devotee can also come across Qawwals singing the songs of eulogizes of the saints.
