Hawa Mahal or Palace of Wind/Palace of Breeze is located in the heart of the pink city Jaipur of Rajasthan. It was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799 and was designed in the shape of crown of Lord Krishna by Lal Chand Ustad. which is made up of red and pink sand stones to match pink texture of the pink city one can count  953 Jharokhas/windows in the Hawa Mahal which gives a look of honey comb when viewed from outside. Cool Breeze flowing from the windows keeps the atmosphere of the mahal cool and pleasant from inside.

It is believed that it was made for queens to see the city and what activities are going on outside as they had Parda system in which they were not allowed to show their faces to anyone. Keeping this into mind, Hawa Mahal was built to allow queens to have a view of the city.
