In Rajasthan, only one International Airport is there which is located in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. On 29th December 2005, it is granted as an international airport, earlier this was only considered as a domestic airport. Jaipur is the largest city of Rajasthan and also the first city planned in India and this city was planned by Raja Sawai Jai Singh. The Pink City attracts national as well as international tourist every year.

Airport entrance gate is made up of sandstones which have been bought from Dholpur City. The walls also contains some Rajasthani paintings on it which are eye catching. Through these paintings itself, tourist can have a hint of Rajasthani traditions and culture. The terminal also has beautiful trees on both sides along with the fountains which are designed and decorated in fabulous ways. These trees help in maintaining the temperature inside the airport premises apart from adding beauty to the airport. Many ways have been developed in the airport for saving electricity. Transparent as well as adjustable shade walls are there in Jaipur airport. These adjustable walls manage the light inside the airport building which helps in saving lights inside the airport premises. This is a great and fantastic method of saving electricity and also an eco- friendly way of conservation of energy.

The airport has many facilities for tourists like ATM facilities, Currency exchange offer , various shops and restaurants are also available during working hours. A desk is also available for solving the queries of the travelers if they are facing some kind of problem. Indian Airlines, Air Deccan, Jet Airways , Air Sahara, Go Air etc are the regular flights that are operated from Jaipur Airport. The Government of Rajasthan is planning to expand the terminal building which can accommodate 1000 passengers per hour and to extend the run way to 3,658 meters. Jaipur Airport is located near the Sanganer town which is about 16 kms away from the city.

This airport handles several number of flights to various cities in India including the metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai and as well as abroad. As it is opened only a few time back so it serves only a few nearby stations only. It may upgrade to a big international airport in the near future. It handles Air Sahara, Indian Airlines and Jet Airways and nearly all other flights. The city of Jaipur forms a major tourist attraction, not only for foreigners but for Indians as well. With the changing times, Jaipur has also joined the herd of contemporary times and become one of the business centers of India. Every year, Jaipur welcomes innumerable people to its beautiful city for tourism as well as for business opportunities. For the convenience, Jaipur Airport serves people from far and near to commute easily.
