GYAN VIHAR UNIVERSITY
Gyan Vihar also known as Suresh Gyan Vihar University has a sprawling campus of 31 acres in the south of Jaipur city, capital of Rajasthan. The University is abutting the area of Jagatpura spread over 8 lakh sq.ft.
Gyan Vihar is the logical outcome of a great dream, meticulous research and development. The foundation stone of Gyan Vihar was laid down in the month of spring on 19th February 1994 by the great academician, freedom fighter and thinker Acharya Shri Purushottam Uttam at the Malviya nagar campus which later on transformed into one of the deemed and renowned university of North India and came to be known as Suresh Gyan Vihar University since 2008.
Due to his dynamic and energetic direction within a short span it emerged as a leading academic institution of the state providing education from Kindergarten to University. The University operates under the guidance of Chancellor Sh. Sunil Sharma, Vice Chancellor Prof. B.V. Somasekhar and Chief Mentor Dr. Sudhanshu. University is governed by Board of Management & Academic Council under the leadership of several learned academicians, experienced administrators & Deans supported by numerous offices.
The founder of Gyan Vihar is Shri Suresh Sharma with its chairman Sunil Sharma and director Dr. Sudhanshu. The university is a collection of schools including senior secondary schools, the Engineering College, the Management College, the Hotel Management College, the Pharmacy College, the College of Postgraduate Studies and the School of Education.
Within a span of ten years, this University has emerged as one of the leading educational institute of India. It has one of the most dynamic and biggest educational infrastructures in the state. At present more than 6,000 students are studying in 32 degree courses.
Due to its excellent work in the field of education within the span of 14 years the Rajasthan State Assembly unanimously passed a bill on 26 March 2008 declaring it the first research and development based university of the state. On 16 April the governor of Rajasthan signed the Suresh Gyan Vihar University Act 2008 as Act on 16 of 2008.
Gyan vihar institute started its working on 7 April 1994 it as a primary institution and since then it has attracted many people from all over North India because of its dynamic education system. In 1997 it became a CBSE 10+2 school imparting education for all round development of students.
The various degree courses offered at Gyan Vihar University:
Gyan Vihar School of Engineering and Technology (GSET)
GSET was the first project of Gyan Vihar in the field of higher education. It started in 2000. The intake capacity of GSET is 420 students per year in five branches: Civil with intake of 60, Computer with intake capacity of 120, Electronics and Communication with intake capacity of 120, Mechanical with intake capacity of 60, Information Technology with intake capacity of 60 and Electrical Engineering with intake capacity of 60. More than 1500 students are studying in GSET.
The curriculum of the Engineering classes has been so designed that stress is laid on innovative and original thinking with mandatory research work
International School of Business and Management (ISBM)
ISBM was started in 2003 offering MBA program with an intake capacity of 60. In 2004 a BBA program started under the ISBM with an intake capacity of 60. In 2005 PGDM, again an AICTE program, with intake capacity of 60 was started. In year 2006 MCA got started with an intake capacity of 60. In 2008 MBA dual degree programme was launched with intake of 30 students; it is an integrated four-year programme which includes both BBA and MBA. Another integrated five-year programme was also started which includes both B-Tech and MBA.
School of Pharmacy
In 2003 the Gyan Vihar School of Pharmacy started with intake capacity of 60 with the approval of AICTE. At present 240 students are studying in Gyan Vihar School of Pharmacy. At present the institution is also running M.Pharm courses like Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Quality Assurance, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy, and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology.
School of Hotel Management
In 2003 Gyan Vihar University started its school of hotel management. The course is approved by AICTE and affiliated to the University of Rajasthan with an intake capacity of 60. At present 180 students are studying in this school. In 2008 Gyan Vihar became Suresh Gyan Vihar University and the subsequent batches of HMCT came under Suresh Gyan Vihar University.
School of Post-Graduate Studies
In 2003 the university started its post-graduate school and started a post-graduate degree program in advanced sciences like MSc in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry. All these MSc programs have intake capacity of 30 and the main focus is on research and development.
The campus at Jagtpura has open theater and many auditoriums, a temple, several canteens, cricket, football, volleyball grounds and lawn tennis and basketball court with 75 or more most advanced and sophisticated laboratories with other facilities for sports and extracurricular activities. The amenities and ancillary areas have given it the look of an institution of international repute.
This University has one of the best infrastructures in the state and it also has separate hostels for boys and girls with Wi-Fi campus.
Within duration of eight years Gyan Vihar has emerged as one of the premier educational institutes of the country. It is now launching some advanced and highly sophisticated management and technical programmes, of international standards to meet the ever increasing demands and ambitions of both domestic and foreign students.
