Mahadev Temple Goa
Mahadev Temple is a shrine of 12th century. It is a shaivite (sect of Hinduism) sanctum. It is located near the village of Tambdi Surla which is in Goa. It is the ancient temple of Goa. It follows the style of Jain. This temple is devoted to lord Shiva. This is a small temple which is carved beautifully. It is completely made up of black basalt. The temple area is surrounded by soft green grass. It has adopted the architecture of Kadamba-Yadava. A small river flows near this temple. It provide strong and magical atmosphere. Getting There
One can reach this temple by mean of three modes: road, rail and air. One can hire taxi for reaching towards this temple. The interstate buses are available to carry out the journey. The trains like Mandovi express, Konkan express, Swantwadi express and Magaon are available to reach Goa and after reaching Goa one can reach the shrine by mean of taxis, regular bus and autos. The airport of Dabolim lies 35 km away from main city, Panaji. From airport one can reach the shrine by mean of taxi, bus and auto.

The temple is surrounded by the big garden of trees and soft green grass. It consists of pillared porch and three stepped entrances. The temple is transcended by tower. The walls of the temple are decorated with beautiful stone carving. There is small passage way within the temple. The centre of main porch is occupied by headless Nandi bull (vehicle of Lord Shiva). There is inner sanctum after the porch which consists of the lingham of lord Shiva placed on the platform made up of black stone. The lingham is also black in colour. The hibiscus flowers and lit incense sticks are offered to the god.
