Khatu Shyam Cause of Establishment

The story of Khatu Shyam Ji is a chapter of Mahabharata. The name and appearance of Khatu Shyam ji is Barbarika.A pandav prince, Bheema was a grand-father of Barbarika. Barbarika was an owner of bravery and skillful behavior but Krishna did not want his participation in the war of Mahabharat. Barbarika had promised him to fulfill any of his wish and thus he (Krishna) had demanded his (Barbarika) head. Barbarika was agreed to give his head but he had put a condition that he would watch the whole great war. Thus he had given his head to Krishna and was allowed to watch the war. Krishna had booned him that he would be worshiped by his name i.e. Khatu Shyam Ji in Kaliyug and in response to the worship of his devotees he (Khatu Shyam Ji) would fulfill their wishes. Before 975 years, the wife of Roopsingh ChauhanSmt. Narmada Kanwar saw the dream in which she was inculcated by the idol to get her image out of the earth. At the specified place, after digging the present idol of Shri ShyamJi was found and thus the temple was built up of that deity. The specific place is now called as Shyam Kund.The Khatu Shyam Ji is sited 45 km away from Sikar in Rajasthan.

Deity Of Khatu Shyam Ji

The idol of Khatu Shyam Ji entails only his head which is decorated and is made up of rare stone. The idol of Khatu Shyam has gained veneration in every respect to a great-extend. This idol is not a blind faith but it is a sign of true happening. The family god of a number of families is Khatu Shyam ji.

Khatu Shyam Architecture Of The Temple

The architecture of Khatu Shyam is attractive and prepared finely. The temple is made up of marble lime mortar and tiles. The doors of the shrine are coated with silver. There is a prayer hall outside the temple which is known as ‘Jagmohan’ and covers up the span of 12.3m × 4.7 m. Mythological scenes are depicted by paintings on the wall. The doors of entry and exit are made up of marble.

Precincts Of the Temple

An open space has been stretched out on to the front of temple’s entry. In adjacent to the temple there is a beautiful garden called as ‘Shyam Bagicha’. Flowers of this garden are chosen so as to offer to the deity. One of the famous devotee ‘Aloo Singh’ has its Samadhi in the garden.

Khatu Shyam Festivals & Fairs in Temple

From phalgun’s tenth to twelfth day, a great festival is celebrated and is attended by a large number of devotees. The other festivals are Janamashthami, Jal Jhulani Ekadashi, Holi, and Basant Panchami. The centre of attraction of this temple is ‘Phalguna Mela’.

There are five types of aartis that are takes place in the temple. They are as follows:

The two chants are chanted for the lord i.e.‘Shri Shyam Aarti’ and ‘Shri Shyam Vinati’.

Khatu Shyam Customs and Tradition Of The Temple

This temple follows the customs and tradition of Vaishnavas. The deity of Khatu Shyam is getting the services from descendants of the original founders Shrimati Narmada Kanwar and her husband Shri Roop Singh Chauhan.

Thus the temple of Khatu Shyam Ji is the evident of divine identities which are present on the earth to root out the sufferings of people and to make their life happy and prosperous.
