History of the above occasion
Origin of this occasion lies in the story of ChalihoSahab. ChalihoSahab is observed by the no. of followers of Jhulelal. On the bank of Sindhu, they perform all the rituals and underwent vigil for a very long duration i.e. for forty days and nights. During this period, they don’t wear new clothes, they don’t wear new shoes, they did not apply shave on their face to remove their beard or moustache, they don’t make use of any opulent thing, don’t use soap or apply oil, shampoo on their body. However, their clothes are just washed by them, they make them dried and wore them next day and like this they live for these forty days.During the evening time, Lord Varun who is considered as the god of Vedic deity of cosmic order and water worshipped by the people, they remember him by sung songs and prayed him. When the time period of 40 days has been completed, this occasion was celebrated by the followers of Jhulelalin which they were expressed their feelings and said Thanks to them and this day from that time to till today starts celebrating as “Thanks Giving Day”. And thus people celebrate this occasion in the remembrance of patron saint of Sindhis, Jhulelal and the name is Cheti Chand.
Cheti Chand derives its name,Sindhis followed the calendar whose each month starts with a new moonand Chaitra is the first hindi month and it is known as Chet in Sindhi, thus it is called as Cheti-Chand.

This occasion is celebrated by all the Sindhi people of Pakistan and India across the world as on this day their IshtadevaUderolal who is known by a very famous and popular name Jhulelal is having his birth day and people on this day worship and by this remember him which helps them in getting god wishes and blessings leads to remove all the obstacles they are facing in their lives. And with this they are saying thanks to the god from the bottom of their heart. Thus, this occasion has a great importance especially for the Sindhi people.

Puja is worship in a simple way. Sindhis worship water which is considered as the basic necessity of life. People collect the things required for worship which is collectively known as Baharana Sahib and take them to a lake or river situated nearby them. They perform the rituals, worship the god and went their home.
