Teachers create a safe learning environment without fear and sarcasm: Dr. Sudhakar Nayak.
Manipal Center for Professional and Personal Development (MCDP), Director, Dr. Sudhakar Nayak have conducted a teacher training programme (faculty development workshop) in Jhalawar Medical College from 19 to 22 February 2018. This workshop is intended to empower medical teachers to make them more effective as instructors, assessors, communicators and academic leaders. The first three days of the workshop are the core sessions and the fourth day has more advanced sessions so that teachers can cause more learning to happen and also create a conducive environment for learning.
In the workshop Chairperson, Manipal University Jaipur, Dr. K. Ram Narayan said that the function of a teacher is inspired, influence and inform – in that order. The living, loving teacher, must be more than a powerpoint presentation, more than a handout, more than a textbook. In this connection, Dr. Sudhakar Nayak's talked to percipients that Learning can happen only if teachers create a safe learning environment – an environment without fear, sarcasm or threat. Communication is more effective if we describe rather than evaluate student behavior.
Dr. R K Aseri is the Dean of Jhalawar Medical College welcomed to Dr. Sudhakar Nayak and Dr. K. Ramnarayan. This workshop was conducted the second time here. The previous one was in January 2017. Medical Superintendent and Professors and Associate Professors of the various departments of the medical college participated in the workshop.
