History of the above occasion
Origin of the puja lies in the story related to VaibhavLaxmivrat.
Long ago, Sheela and her husband, both of good characterand religious lived happily in a society but unfortunately his husband was involved in doing some misdeeds such as gambling, speculation and race, drinking and as a result he engaged in the company of some bad friends. Due to misdeeds, his financial position becomes very poor like a beggar and he indulged in the wrong activities and he starts misbehaving with his wife and everyone. Thus, Sheela and her husband who lived happily earlier now in a very miserable position. But Sheela who is very religious one had faith in god that one day everything will be alright.
One day, an old woman came to Sheela’s house. She said that she comes in the temple on every Friday and listen her song but from last few days, she don’t found her there so she came here to meet her. Then she asked why you are not happy and Sheela told her everything. Then, old woman told her the complete vidhito keep the Vrat and worship Goddess Laxmi on every Friday as this will cure her problems. Then Sheela decided for the same and closed her eyes and when she open her eyes, that old lady got disappeared, she was Goddess Laxmi who came to her to give her the right direction.
Sheela done the same and after few months she found that her husband again becomes a good man and their financial position becomes good from poor. Like this other ladies also follow her and cure their problems. So, from here the puja and vrat of VaibhavLaxmi begins and celebrated by people all over the country.

VaibhavLaxmi puja has a great significance in our lives as people worship and keep fast for heron every Friday in order to get their wishes fulfilled, for gaining wealth, happiness, prosperity. It’s truly said that if you observe fast of MaaLaxmi and worship her with proper method and full devotion, she will cure all your problems.
What are the things or material required for the worship of this puja?
Red coloured cloth, Idol or photo of MaaLaxmi (ShriYantra), Diya, Mat, Kumkum, Sandalwood paste,red flower mainly rose, water, coconut, sweetdish of rice like kheer, Rice, Kalash, cup of small size, gold/ silver/ rupee coin,story book of VaibhavLaxmiare the things or material required for the worship of this puja.
What is the vidhi (method) of worship?
Puja of VaibhavLaxmi can be done on Fridaymorning , it begins by putting the Idol of MaaLaxmi(ShriYantra)in front of us and light the lamp containing oil. First look ShriYantra and then bow your head towards the same and to the photos of the incarnations of Laxmiji, eight in no. Then put a red cloth on Aasan in just front of the ShriYantra. Now put some rice on it and above that put Kalash filled with water and keep a cup of small size containing gold or silver coin or a rupee coin on the Kalash. Next apply Kumkum and paste of Sandalwood to the coin and Kalash. Then offer flowers, red in colour and prasad. Next read the story book of VaibhavLaxmi, say your wish to be fulfilled and raise your hands in front of her. And then distribute Prasad to everyone.
As this vrat should be kept for specific no. of days like 11, or 21, so on the last Friday to end the vrat, after performing puja, one coconut with sweetdish like kheerand book of VaibhavLaxmiis offered to seven married or unmarried woman and pray MaaLaxmi to fulfil your wish.
