US embassy official Catherine visits IIS deemed to be University, meet IVLP
alumni

A talk on ‘Women in Entrepreneurship' by the U.S. Embassy's Public Diplomacy Officer, Catherine Fischer (North India) was organized by Journalism and Mass Communications department of IIS (deemed to be University) on Monday. An entrepreneur herself before joining the U.S. Government, Ms Catherine highlighted the importance of fostering economic growth via empowering women. Talking to students and staff, she also shared how the North India office of the U.S. Embassy through outreaches like these focus on addressing the gender gap in entrepreneurship in North India has promoted several programs in Rajasthan, in the past, to support women's entrepreneurial communities.

She discussed further opportunities to strengthen these efforts in the state with International Visitors' Leadership Programme (IVLP) alum of US state department Dr. Shipra Mathur, Advisor, JMC Department. Welcoming her Dr. Ashok Gupta, Chancellor of the University shared his views on the role of academic institutions in strengthening the U.S.-India relationship and the New Education Policy (NEP) of India. Ms Catherine also met Registrar Dr Raakhi Gupta, Vice-Chancellor Prof TN Mathur , and Deans of the University. Jui Bhandare (North India Office), Professional Associate and Alumni Coordinator (North India Office) Tarini Tiwari was also present on the occasion.
