Jaipur Airport Terminal 2

Jaipur Airport, ranked number one in a survey conducted by Airports Council International in 2012 among the 126 airports including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai on 33 parameters including cleanliness, safety, security, runways, parking facilities etc. tells tales about the eye of detail that Jaipur Airport Authority holds regarding customer convenience. It offers a wide variety of services to its national and international travellers.

The Jaipur Airport operates from two terminals. While Terminal 1 operates in domestic arena only, Terminal 2 has both national and international carriers. It is not long ago, rather 2009, when terminal 2 was inaugurated for international carriers making Jaipur Airport the only international airport in the state of Rajasthan. Terminal 2 sprawling over twenty three thousand meter square in area has 14 check in counters, six immigration counters, four custom and four security counters that can easily accommodate the passenger traffic at the airport and provide them a hassle free experience.

Terminal 2 provides hi tech modern facilities. The airport has basic facilities like ATM machines, pre-paid taxi and car rental facilities, baggage trolleys, tourist information kiosks, retiring rooms, smoking rooms, comfortable seating facilities in waiting areas and visitor areas, clean drinking water and toilet facilities, passenger information and guidance signage, child care rooms, communication center, lost and found property facility, wheel chairs, entertainment TV, general and premium car parking facility, reserved parking for physically challenged travellers  mobile charging points, lifts, aero-bridges, escalators etc. It also has FIDS System, MI rooms and Computerized LCD Flight Information System. The Airport also provides you a shopping environment with book stall that offers best of the titles covering all genres, jewelry shop offering traditional exquisite collection, hotel booking counters for your hassle free stay, magazine vending machines to quickly pass your waiting time, cold drink and snack vending machines, postal services, duty free shops, handicraft shops with best traditional hand made products ranging from show pieces, kurtas, hand knit hats and what not!

Twenty eight daily flights out of which four are international operate from this terminal every day. However, for most of them, Jaipur is an intermediate stop. It is neither a source nor destination for majority of them. However, Jaipur connects to major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Goa, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Srinagar, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Guwahati etc. For certain other cities like Udaipur and Jodhpur, the flights connect through other cities like Delhi or Mumbai. The domestic Airlines like Jet Airways, Kingfisher, Go Air, Air India, Indigo etc. operate daily flights from Jaipur. With the opening of Terminal 2 for international carriers, several international flights have tremendously increased the number of international tourists to Jaipur. With Air India flights to Dubai and Sharjah, Jet Airways to Dubai, Sharjah and Kuala Lumpur, UAE flights to Dubai connecting Sharjah and Oman Air to Muscat mark a kick start to international flight carriers flocking Jaipur Airport.

Though Terminal 2 is way ahead and more modernized than Terminal 1, yet international carriers like Singapore Airlines, Ethiad, Gulf Airlines and Biman Airlines have declined to operate from here as the length of the runway do not meet international standards. Thus, a new project for Jaipur Airport to extend the length of its runway from current 2700 meters to over 3500 meters is being undertaken which will enable it to accommodate bigger aircraft's like Boeing 747 and Airbus 320.

Thus, Terminal 2 has added glories to the Jaipur airport and its facilities have offered a lot of convenience to the travellers  With its development work of the runway expected to complete by 2014, it is going to add a lot of international destinations and other leading international airlines to its current list of operations.
