Development on Jaipur Metro
Jaipur Metro a rapid transit system under construction in the city of Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. Construction of the first part of the first line, comprising 9.2 km from Mansarovar to Chandpole Bazaar, started on November 13, 2010.
Government of India decided to develop a metro railways for Jaipur’s people to come out those stressed which they’re facing in their daily routine traffic problems. For this government asked to DMRC to do a feasibility study for Jaipur metro.Once found feasible, a company under the name Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation Limited was incorporated on 1 January 2010 under the Companies Act, 1956. In April 2011, Jaipur Metro Rail Corp appointed Mott MacDonald to advice on the tendering for the first 2 lines totaling 35km and costing Rs 100 billion.
Today 45% of work has been completed and rest of part will be completed soon in the starting of 2013.There are two routes under constructions:-
Green Line (Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar Jaipur Metro):
The First route of Jaipur Metro rail will connect Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar via Civil Lines and Chandpole. In Phase 1, the metro would run from Mansarovar to Chandpole. The construction has already begin and is expected to be completed by 1 January 2013.
Orange Line (Sitapura Industrial Area to Ambabari Metro):
The Second route of Jaipur Metro rail(North-South Corridor) will connect Sitapura Industrial Area in south to Ambabari in North via Ajmeri Gate and MI Road. The tracks will be elevated till Ajmeri Gate and then will go underground.
At the time of construction, Jaipur metro faced many problems, which now has become the part of some controversies. These controversies must not have occurred if Jaipur government took some safety measures about few things at the time of construction.
Below are the few accidents and controversies which came up at that time:-
On February 4, 2011 a businessmen killed in machine collapse Jaipur metro station. The victim name is Vikram Maheshwari 35yr old.
On November 1, 2011 a woman was injured while trying to avoid a falling earth moving machine engaged in metro construction. The machine lost balance and fall on road side. The victim name is Geeta khandelwal who was on bike and jumped down to save herself.
On March 10, 2011 Rajasthan high court send notices to state authorities, JMRC, and JDA’s land acquisition officer, on petition by some shop owners from Station Road, asking them to justify the Jaipur Metro Project as petitioners alleged no proper survey was done before launch of Metro.
Many different problems still Jaipur metro facing in every day but still after facing so much, Jaipur metro construction not stop and trying to fulfill its aim to developed a metro for Jaipur people , so that this lovely city able to compete with other city-state.
“The saying ‘one step forward, two steps backward’ precisely fits for Jaipur Metro rail project, whose fate hangs in balance even as the state government has pledged to complete the project within a stipulated period. Apprehensions about state government’s prescription for PPP model and Planning Commission’s reported doubts about its feasibility in the absence of required passenger load, are among the issues that have put a question mark on the fate of the ambitious project.”
